What are passkeys?

 

Passkeys are a replacement for passwords. They're faster to sign in with, easier to use and much more secure.

 

Think of passkeys as your personal key to the Scripty world – they're the next step in secure, passwordless login. Passkeys leverage the power of your personal device to confirm your identity, safeguarding your access with a level of security that traditional passwords simply can't match. 

 

No more passwords: With passkeys, you don't need to remember a password. Your device itself secures your authentication, syncing with either your iCloud or Google Accounts depending on whether you're an Apple or Android user.

Why is Scripty implementing passkeys?

 

The Scripty team are proactive about security. We're rolling out passkeys initially for our users who sign in via Google. This move responds directly to the Australian Digital Health Agency's standards for password complexity. For those that chose Google sign-in, there is now an extra step to register your passkey.  This passkey will be specific for Scripty.

How do users use passkeys?

 

When you're asked to sign in to an app or website, you'll use the same biometric (like a fingerprint or facial recognition) or PIN that you use to unlock your device. This simple, secure method replaces traditional, less secure usernames and passwords for a seamless login experience.

Scripty is heading towards next-generation account security 

 

Organisations such as FIDO Alliance and W3C are leading the charge towards a password-free future. This vision is supported by tech giants like Google, Apple, and Microsoft. Scripty is also following the tech giants so that your health information has first-class security protection.

  • Convenience: Facial recognition, fingerprint scans, or PINs now grant you access to Scripty's services – no password or two-factor authentication required. 

  • Privacy: Full encryption from end to end, ensuring even the providers like Google and Apple can't access your keys.

At Scripty, we understand the concern about misplacing or losing your device. Our recovery process ensures that you always have access to your Scripty scripts, no matter what happens to your device.
