Medication Shortages Alert

Australians are being hit hard by medicine shortages, with nearly 400 medicines in short supply and around 40 of those classified as critical. For many, this means the meds you rely on – like essential ADHD treatments – might not be there when you need them most. The impact is real: people like our family and friends are facing disrupted treatment, anxious pharmacy visits, and lots of uncertainty, with families left scrambling for medications.
That’s exactly why we've introduced a brand-new feature in Scripty, the trusted digital script wallet app already helping Aussies keep scripts sorted. Scripty’s new medicine shortage alerts are here to take the stress out of these shortages and help put you back in control, so you can stay informed and a step ahead when things get tricky.
How Scripty’s New Feature Works:
At the Doctor:
With the new alert system, you’ll know before your appointment if any of your medications are in short supply. That means you can walk into your GP’s office ready to talk alternatives, renew a script, or plan ahead – no unexpected surprises when you show up at the pharmacy. One Scripty user put it simply: “It gave me peace of mind – being able to talk to my doctor about options before my medicine ran out.”
At the Pharmacy:
Gone are the days of finding out at the counter that your medicine isn’t available. Scripty now flags shortages right in your script list—showing if a med is running low, discontinued, or tracking fine. This heads-up lets you work with your pharmacist to sort out a solution and avoid last-minute panic. As another Scripty user shared, “I got a heads-up that my medicine was in short supply, and my pharmacy could help me sort things out – no last-minute stress!”

The alerts use the latest information from the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) medicine shortage reports, so you can stay informed about ADHD medications and other critical medicines. Soon, Scripty will make things even simpler with push notifications –keeping you updated on any changes to your medicine’s status, like when it is no longer a supply issue.
Scripty’s new feature is designed to put health consumers back in control, helping them stay ahead and providing the information needed to avoid unexpected surprises.
