For many, managing repeat prescriptions is a routine part of healthcare. The shift to electronic scripts (eScripts) has introduced changes in how we handle repeat scripts, bringing about some confusion. eScripts offer a modern twist to traditional paper prescriptions, but it's important to remember that they function under similar principles.
Traditionally, when you had a prescription with repeats, the pharmacist would give you a paper repeat form after dispensing your medication. You needed to keep this paper repeat safe, as losing it could mean losing your medication (unless you left the scripts with your pharmacy). With eScripts, instead of having a tangible paper repeat, you receive a digital 'token'. Just as you would need a physical paper for the repeat, each eScript comes with a repeat token.
Basically the 'token' for your eScript changes each time you fill a prescription.
In other words, the system is designed to 'use up' your original token and replace it with a new one for your repeat prescriptions. And no, Scripty isn't losing your scripts or making errors. This token system forms the basis of eScript management.
So, where can you find those repeat tokens? Usually, they're sent to you via an SMS or email from your pharmacy after your script is dispensed. You can use the URL in this SMS/email to access your new repeat token and add it back into Scripty, by tapping it or using our Smart Import feature.
What if you can't locate your new token? Check your recent SMS or email communications once more. If it's not there, no sweat - just ask your pharmacy for a reissue of your eScript token.
Future Plans: we're excited to announce that an update is coming soon to streamline this process even further. MyScriptList (MySL) will soon be able to store your repeat tokens directly. This means no more manual adding in of tokens. Everything you need will be securely and conveniently stored in one place, making the management of your eScripts and repeats smoother and more straightforward than ever. Stay tuned for more details on this upcoming feature!
